about

In third grade my teacher added a line to my report card: “Creativity -- Amy has lots of this!!!”

Bless her heart!

I graduated from Mount Holyoke College and Harvard Divinity School, spent my Junior Year in Paris, and discovered that I love writing, people, and places more than jumping through hoops.

I’ve spent summers backpacking through France writing for Let’s Go and taken my newborn daughter to Paris to write for the Rough Guide. I’ve poked all around Austin, San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country and crisscrossed the Texas backroads writing my most recent books.

I’m self-taught photographer with a quick finger and a knack for capturing the world one split second at a time. I also taught myself (notice a pattern?) Photoshop in order to design websites and print media for other artists, writers, and organizations doing good.

I’ve worked at a Quaker day school in Cambridge, been a substitute teacher in Dallas and run the fully-clothed Children’s Program at a clothing-optional family camp in Maine. I’ve opened a children’s clothing store, am a parent to my own two beautiful children and have volunteered with organizations that advocate for children. Remarkably, when it comes to kids, I'm still pretty patient.

I’ve lived in a barbershop, renovated a 125 year old house, and moved cross country – twice. These days I live beneath the shade of a dozen Live Oak trees in Texas.

Whether in words or images, I love capturing the details. Unlike my office, my car, and my hair – which are all a bit messy – my work is simple, sophisticated, spontaneous, and smart. Take a look.
